Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend pretty much kicked off summer for us.  We spent the entire weekend doing fun summer stuff; long hours at the pool, riding bikes in the street, playing basketball in the driveway, and just enjoying friends.  The kids couldn't wait to kick off the long holiday weekend, so as some as everyone was home from school on Friday afternoon they tossed the frisbee around.

The rest of the weekend continued at this leisurely pace.  The weather on Monday was perfect for our neighborhood Memorial Day Bike Parade around the Long Lake.  The kids decorated anything that would roll with red, white, and blue and we paraded around the lake before enjoying watermelon and popsicles.

Brenna throwing the spark bar to make "fireworks" for the parade!

Next it was off to the splash pad for some water-fun.  We parents threw out a blanket and some pop-up chairs underneath a shade tree and enjoyed a visit while the kids played. Finally, just encase we hadn't had enough fun yet, we all headed over to the new Palladium for bowling;  kids against the parents and Moms against the Dads.  We were all worn out after 2 games!

We spent the entire day with friends and the kids loved every minute of the whole day.  It was definitely a Memorial Day to remember.
