Frost Field Day

Until last year, I had no idea what Field Day was.  I've learned that most Texas preschool and elementary schools host a Field Day every May where the kids get to have a fun day outside with games, competition, and water!  It's highly anticipated by the kids and there's lots of hipe before hand with game selections, t-shirts, class themes, and banner making for the school parade.

So, after some beautiful weather leading into Frost Field Day, we woke up that faithful Friday morning to find a bleak sky and an ugly forecast!  It didn't dampen our spirits!  The school was buzzing that morning with some very excited kids!  Instead of backpacks, there were balloons!

And turns out our class was the lucky one that got to lead the parade! The kids were bouncing all over the place once the whole school made their way out into the front drive! Here's some shots of how our day started out. The weather cooperated for the parade!

Franklin's Falcon were bouncing balloons and leading the way!  I love all the colorful falcons!  The kids had a great time painting them earlier in the week!

Here we go!  Led by our police escort and All Out Extreme Vehicles!

After a lap around the school our kids got to sit on the curb and cheer on the other classes as they made their way around.

After the parade, all the classes went to prearranged game stations, where the fun began!  Here's Brenna running relay!

Unfortunately, that was the only outdoor game station we made it to.  The weather would not hold off any longer.  The sky turned black, the bottom fell out, and everyone ran for cover.  Our class took shelter back in the room and enjoyed goldfish, juice boxes, and some Magic School Bus.  The kids didn't mind.  They were happy to spread out all the beach towel and have an indoor picnic.

Next, all of kindergarten moved to the gym for Dot Dash!  The kids were split into groups of five.  Each group was given one bean bag.  The objective of the game was to stand on a dot and toss your bean bag into the center bucket.  If your bean bag went in, then you collected the dot you were standing on and passed your bean bag to the next player in your group, who repeats the process until all the dots are gone.  The group with the most dots at the end of the game wins.  Of course the dots closest to the bucket disappear quickly and then you're forced to moved further away from the bucket until only the final Super Dot remains, which was roughly half the long of the gym from the bucket.  Then everyone lines up to try and get the Super Dot.  It took at least 50 trys before someone finally nailed it.  The kids loved this.  They said it was their favorite PE game.  Here's a picture just before the Dot Dash began.  Brenna's in the bottom righthand corner.

As if Field Day wasn't enough fun for the day, we left school and picked up one of our favorite friends for Brenna's first at home sleep over.  Brenna and Avery headed to Stomping Grounds for some cool indoor fun and then picked up McDs on the way home for dinner.  It was a late night of playing, crafts, and movies.  The girls hung in there until just after 11 pm, before they finally gave it up and dozed off to Lalaloopsy.

The next day they were back up and at it again.  Jacob picked up donuts for breakfast and girls enjoyed  them in the media room while watching a movie. Then it was playtime until it was time to drop Avery off.

After taking Avery home, we had some errands to run so we drove into Sugar Land.  Brenna didn't even the last the drive there.  She was one tired little girl, but it was totally worth it according to her.
