For Mayfest at gymnastics this year they did a dedication to the upcoming 2012 Summer Olympics in London.  Here's their routine.  Brenna's the one with the pink tights!

Brenna's Gymnastics

Well, with the dance recital in our review mirror we looked ahead to the summer.  Since Brenna is a "big girl" now, she likes to make her own decisions.  And her first major self proclaimed decision was about gymnastics.  While she enjoyed her year of dance, it just didn't bring the enthusiasm that gymnastics did.  But, since we paid the tuition, recital fee, shoes, costumes, and professional pics (the list seemed never ending), we stuck it out to the end.  At the end, I told her she could chose to do whatever she liked.  So we went back to gymnastics.  She jumped right back in like she never missed a beat and she loves it!

Brenna's 1st Gymnastics Recital

Last night was Brenna's 1st gymnastics recital. She had a great time, even more fun that regular classes. It's amazing how far she's come in just 8 short months. She really is a natural and enjoys it so much.

The recital was alittle different than most. The recital had a jungle theme and was titled "Westwood Goes Wild". They set the kids up in groups of five. We rotated to each apparatus, spending about 10 - 15 minutes at each spot as they performed the circuit associate with that apparatus.

Brenna's Gymnastics

Jacob was able to go with us to Brenna's gymnastics session today, so we got to get some pictures and video. I put together a short movie (in case I haven't said this, I love our new Mac! It's got some great features for photos and movie making). Normally, they move up to the next level at age 3, and even then not everyone is ready. Brenna is always eager to learn and with her fearlessness, it's a wonder these classes haven't landed us an ER visit. I found her flipping over the lower clothes rack in my closet one day. Brenna's coach told me 2 weeks ago that Brenna aced her spring evaluations and that she's ready to move up now. We've only been in for 8 months, so we haven't even had our first recital yet, which is schedule for mid-May. I think we'll stick with our class until then, so she can do the recital with all her friends. Then she and one of her buddies (whose already 3) will move up together!
