Houston Museum of Natural Science

After we had so much fun at the Butterfly Museum earlier this summer, we were excited when some friends invited us on a trip back to the Houston Museum of Natural Science to see the main exhibit hall.  We started off at the Butterfly Museum, because its too much fun to miss.

Future Scientists!

We always love to see the Butterflies!

Next we headed over to the main exhibit hall to visit the Hall of Paleontology.  The exhibit was impressive with more dinosaur bones than I could identify and most names that I couldn't pronounce!

The kids got to "dig" for fossils.

Next we moved to the African Wildlife exhibit, which was pretty graphic.  Imagine our surprise when we walked up on this scene and the girls ask "Where's the rest of the zebra?"  In an attempt to lessen the severity of scene I said "The zebra just had a bad day" which was promptly followed by "Why?" Needless to say we weren't really prepared to explain the circle of life, so we quickly moved on!

Texas Wildlife Exhibit

We had a great time at the museum!  The kids got to see alot of new and interesting things that provoked alot of questions!  I've got one more museum on my hit list for this summer.  The Houston Museum of Natural Science has a Sugar Land Branch near where we live that actually has a dinosaur dig.  We're squeezing in everything we can before Brenna starts Kindergarten, since that will put an end to all our weekday playdates.
