Brenna's 1st Dance Recital was Saturday. It was an all day event! We started that morning around 6:30 am for hair and make-up and bolted out the door for dress rehearsal at 8:00 am. The theme of the show was "Hats Off to You!" so all the dances involved some kind of hat. There were 100 girls and 30 individual dance performances. So it made for a long day, we were at it until about 1:00 pm when we headed home for lunch and a nap. I woke her up from her nap at 4:00 pm and we started all over with hair and make-up again and rushed back for the 5:30 pm set-up. The recital was at 6:30 pm, but we didn't make it back home until around 10 pm. IT WAS A LONG DAY!
Of course the girls thought it was like one big playdate. The fun never stopped back stage! Here's a few shots from though-out the day.
Brenna getting her medal at the finale!
Our rehearsal was a mess! Our group of 6 had deminished to 3 and we were the smallest and youngest group to perform. Hats fell off, we had a wardrobe malfunction with Brenna's skirt, and the girls had trouble finding their places on stage. They were constantly looking down at the floor to find their number. But thank heavens for dress rehearsals, because our girls pulled off both their routines without a hitch that night! I had tears in my eyes during her performances because I was so proud and it was so funny and cute! It was definitely a memorable moment for us and Brenna enjoyed the whole day, so that made it even better.
Here's some video of the dress rehearsal. It doesn't do the girls justice because they were perfect for their "Big" performance. Of course there was no video taping allowed during the recital, so it will be a while before we get a copy of the actually recital video.
