Easter Weekend

We spent most of last week recovering from all our travels and washing clothes.  So when the weekend rolled around we were ready for some fun.  We decided to do some last minute shopping just to make sure the Easter Bunny had some ideas for Brenna's Easter basket.  She was waiting at the door to go.  I just happen to have my camera out and this seemed to be one of the few times she's still.  So I snapped a picture.  When I looked at this later, I was amazed.  Where did my baby go?  She's changing so much lately, getting taller, and her hair to starting to actually look like it has style.  She's becoming such a beautiful little girl.

We hopped in the car and headed to the mall for breakfast and to meet the Easter Bunny.  We didn't take pictures because the line was very, very long.  But, Brenna did get to see him and he waved at her. She looked at me and said "He really is real, Mama!"

Next we headed over to the book store.  The book store is as good as a playground for Brenna, she enjoys it just as much.  We arrived just in time for the Easter Celebration.  Here's Brenna at story time.  They read 3 books, but Brenna enjoyed one so much that it showed up in her Easter Basket the next morning.  It was about an old lady who swallowed a chick.  You can imagine how that book went.  "But, she didn't get sick!"  Brenna's always chimed in during this repeated part of the book and asked "Why does the old lady eat everything?"  At the end of the book, when the Easter Bunny shows up, she proudly told the story lady "He really is real!"  The story lady came up to me later and told me she loves having kids like her at story time.

Next, everyone got a brown paper bag for an Easter egg hunt through the children's section.  The kids thought this was great, scouring the book shelves and toy racks for colorfully Easter eggs.

And finally we finished up with an Easter craft where each child got to decorate their own foam Easter egg.  Brenna decorated her egg and then quickly cracked open each egg to find her "surprise".  We had silly bands, stickers, and erasers.

We did some Easter eggs hunting that afternoon when we got in.  Since we already died eggs at Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house this year, we opted for the plastic eggs this time.  And of course the Easter Bunny left a basket full of treats for Brenna that night.  She got books, sidewalk chalk, new paints and paint books, a new dvd, candy, crafts, sticker books, and a disney princess singing microphone.  I thought that was a pretty good haul for an Easter Basket.

Easter Sunday we managed to get everyone up, enjoyed some chocolate from our Easter basket for breakfast, and got into our Easter frocks.  I did squeeze in a few pictures, and even though Daddy opted out of pictures this year (we were running late) he was very handsome and even matched me and Brenna with a salmon and grey tie.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!  It was a beautiful day to give thanks that Christ is Risen!
