Let's Keep the Celebration Going!

Well, what could be more fun than celebrating a kids birthday?  Celebrating it twice!  We really enjoyed John's birthday party this past weekend, and when his actually birthday rolled around on Wednesday, Shellie and her family invited us along for some fun at the zoo.  Once again, we had beautiful weather.  We spent the morning at the zoo, where the kids enjoyed the animals, the wildlife carousel, and the playground.

Brenna would only stand near the window while the chimpanzees were out in the field.  As soon as one started moving toward us, she jumped down and said "I don't want to see the monkeys!"  Looks like her previous encounter wasn't as funny as she originally thought.  If you don't understand what I'm talking about, check out the video a few posts down about our last visit to the zoo.

Next we headed to the park for a picnic lunch, where we had cupcakes and sang a chorus of Happy Birthday to John.  Sometimes it amazes me what can keep kids entertained, especially in groups.  I think we could have skipped the zoo admission cost, gone straight to the park, and kids would have played all day long on an old wire fence and had just as much fun.

Finally, we closed out the day with a train ride around Herman Memorial Park.

A big thanks to Shellie and her family for inviting us along and one last big Happy Birthday to John on the big "2"!
