Brenna made her stage debut in her classes presentation of Chicken Little! Brenna was the cat! The play was highly anticipation, especially since they had been practicing since our arrival in Canada. The class made their own masks and settings for the play. It was very entertaining to hear the kids practice, get nervous, and excited when the big day finally arrived. I could not have been more proud or entertained to watch Brenna act out her role! Unfortunately, I had no idea what she was saying since the entire play was in French! Lucky for me, one of my new friends sat next to me and interpreted the key parts! It has been amazing to see just how quickly Brenna is learning the language! She's even been teaching me. Thanks to her I can count to 10 in French! She's also already picked up a bit of Canadian slang that she now uses without thought. For instance, instead of bathroom it's washroom, you should sit on your bum, and don't forget to throw your trash in the bin! I laugh only because to me it all sounds so unusually coming out of her mouth. She may shake off some of this southern accent after all.
Next was the school's Spring Concert. All the families were invited to come enjoy a presentation from each class demonstrating their musical instruction over the school year. Brenna's class played the hand bells. You'll hear We Adore Thee, I Surrender All, At the Cross, and Kumbaya,
We also enjoyed visiting with friends at our first birthday party since the move. A friend had his birthday at one of the area parks and the kids had a blast enjoying the playground and playing some fun birthday games! In true form, Brenna's competitive nature kicked in and she won the sack race and she and the birthday boy won the three legged race even though they refused to put their arms around each other! The powdered donuts weren't her favorite!
Finally, the last day of school arrived! Sarnia Christian School does things a little different than we're accustomed to. Instead of having a class party to celebrate the end of the year, they have school pool party! While the day was beautiful, it was a chilly 64 degrees. I sat on the sidelines with my jacket on and wrapped up in Brenna's beach towel trying to the break the wind! But that didn't stop the kids from having a great time! It was a great ending to what's been a fantastic experience at our new school and we're looking forward to next year!
